Feeling frustrated? That's the sentiment echoing from West Tipperary, where local representative Cllr John O'Heney is voicing serious concerns about the lack of Garda resources. He's not mincing words, and the core issue is clear: West Tipperary needs more support.
Cllr. O'Heney expressed his disappointment over the recent allocation of Probationary Gardaí, particularly the fact that no new Gardaí were assigned to West Tipperary. He highlighted that the entire County of Tipperary received only one additional Garda in the latest allocation. This is a significant concern, especially when considering the broader context.
The situation is further compounded by the fact that the entire Clare/Tipperary Division only received two new Gardaí – one for Ennis and another for Clonmel. This leaves both West and North Tipperary without additional support, despite their acknowledged need.
"It is disappointing to see that the entire County of Tipperary has only been allocated one additional Garda in today's allocation of Probationary Gardaí," O'Heney stated.
But here's where it gets controversial... O'Heney isn't just sitting back. He's taking action. He plans to reach out to Garda Management and Oireachtas Members, urging them to prioritize County Tipperary in future Garda allocations. He emphasizes the need to support the existing Gardaí, who are already working hard in the area.
He also mentioned that the many excellent Gardaí they already have in the area need more support.
