HBO Max's "The Pitt" has been renewed for a third season, according to a statement by HBO CEO Casey Bloys. The announcement was made on Wednesday, January 7, during the Season 2 premiere at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles. This news comes just a day before the premiere of the Emmy-winning second season of the Noah Wyle medical drama from John Wells. The series, created by R. Scott Gemmill, premiered in 2025 and tells the story of healthcare workers inside a Pittsburgh emergency room over the course of 15 episodes. Each season has taken place over one shift, with each episode covering an hour of the shift. The first season earned 13 Emmy nominations and won five, including best drama, drama casting, and acting trophies for Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, and Shawn Hatosy. On Wednesday, the show was nominated for two Actor Awards and two DGA Awards. Bloys attributed the show's success to its manageable budget and the ability to create 15 episodes while maintaining a high quality. The cast includes Wyle, LaNasa, Hatosy, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, and Shabana Azeez. Sepideh Moafi joined the cast in Season 2 as Dr. Al-Hashimi. Wells, Gemmill, and Wyle serve as executive producers along with Erin Jontow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan, and Michael Hissrich.
