On November 20, 2025, the Minister for Transport, Prof. Makame Mbarawa, personally inspected the progress of the nearly finished terminal building. Currently at 98% completion, this impressive structure represents a substantial investment of Sh27.93 billion. The terminal is designed to comfortably accommodate 120 passengers simultaneously, offering a vastly improved travel experience for everyone passing through.

"I chose to begin my visit in Tabora because it is a strategic region," he stated, highlighting Tabora's pivotal role as a railway hub connecting Makutupora, Isaka, Mwanza, Uvinza, Bujumbura, and even extending into the Democratic Republic of Congo. This positions Tabora as a crucial gateway for international transport and trade. But the upgrades don't stop there! The project also encompasses a comprehensive 6.25-kilometer security fence to enhance safety and security, a fully equipped meteorological station for accurate weather forecasting, two generators with capacities of 1000kVA and 40kVA to ensure uninterrupted power supply, energy-efficient solar lighting to minimize environmental impact, and a robust 1250kVA transformer to handle the increased electrical load.
Once fully operational, this modern facility is poised to dramatically enhance safety, improve service delivery, and firmly establish Tabora as a key gateway for both domestic and regional air travel. It's a game-changer for the region.
