According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, this redevelopment is projected to generate over 1,120 permanent new jobs. In addition, it is expected to create 460 new construction jobs each year during the building phase. This influx of employment opportunities could significantly impact the local economy.
The developer, GTR London, is contributing significantly to the project. They've allocated £300,000 towards off-site flood risk mitigation, and a substantial £20 million planning gain agreement has been made. This agreement includes £6 million specifically earmarked for Ealing Council's data center training and skills strategy. This is a crucial investment in the future workforce, ensuring that local residents have the skills needed to thrive in the new digital economy.
The approved plans encompass four industrial buildings, including a logistics and distribution center, a central pavilion, and two power-generating substations, alongside smaller workshops and office space. The central pavilion is designed to serve as the focal point of the redeveloped industrial estate, housing offices and support facilities.
Ealing Council gave the green light to the plans on October 22nd.
