Hollywood often plays it safe with titles, opting for short, memorable phrases. But as a fan of Italian giallo, I've always admired the grandeur of titles like 'Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key' or 'The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion'. So, when the news broke that Sophie Wilde, star of 'Babygirl', is set to headline a new sci-fi thriller titled 'Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten', I was instantly intrigued. The title itself is a bold statement, a unique and intriguing choice that immediately captures attention.

'Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten'

Directed by Egor Abramenko, known for 'Sputnik', and written by Luke Piotrowski & Ben Collins, who penned 'Hellraiser', this sci-fi thriller is based on a short story by Nick Antosca, creator of the Apple TV series 'Cape Fear'. The film is fully financed by Antosca, who also holds the worldwide rights. Production is set to commence in the spring.

The story follows Rob and Sabile, an engaged couple, as they retreat to a secluded mountain resort for their wedding. What begins as a joyous celebration with family turns sour when unexpected guests disrupt the ceremony.

Abramenko expressed his enthusiasm for Antosca's short story, describing it as a fresh take on the alien genre, a rare find in today's cinema.

Sophie Wilde, who rose to fame with her role in the 2023 horror film 'Talk to Me', directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, is no stranger to intense, character-driven roles. In 'Talk to Me', she portrayed a friend who discovers a way to summon spirits using an embalmed hand, leading to a thrilling yet dangerous journey. Since then, she's collaborated with renowned actors like Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson in 'Babygirl' and will soon join Tom Cruise in 'Digger', directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.

Despite the title's uniqueness, there's a sense of irony in its potential for a Hollywood blockbuster, where it might be retitled something more conventional like 'Invasion'.

As a fan of bold, unconventional titles, I'm excited to see how 'Soon You Will Be Gone and Possibly Eaten' unfolds. The film promises a unique blend of sci-fi and thriller elements, and with Wilde's talent, it's sure to be a memorable addition to the genre.
