Sophie Cunningham's Unfiltered Critique of Los Angeles
Los Angeles, California, the city of dreams and sun-kissed beaches, might be a paradise for many, but not for Fever forward Sophie Cunningham. In a TikTok video, Cunningham unleashed a barrage of criticism, targeting the city's residents and their perceived lack of personality. She described a scene where people don't dance, don't greet each other, and all seem to blend into one, leaving her perplexed.
"I don't think I'm an LA girl," she declared. "It's just weird. People don't dance, people don't even say hi, they have no personalities. They have no personalities and they all look the same." Her words were sharp, cutting through the city's glamor, and she didn't stop there.
Cunningham then turned her gaze towards LA's social media influencers, questioning their authenticity. "It's weird," she said. "And all these personalities you see on Instagram and TikTok... like, I like how they've found a space to express themselves and gain confidence online, but if you can't connect in person, is that not weird? Am I weird?" Her honesty and directness were refreshing, even if some found it controversial.
But this wasn't the first time Cunningham made headlines. Last May, a bombshell lawsuit accused her of having an affair with Suns, Mercury CEO Josh Bartelstein. The WNBA star, like her league, awaits the fate of the 2026 season, as negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement remain unresolved. Cunningham's outspoken nature continues to spark discussions, whether on the court or in the public eye.
