A massive power outage left thousands in the dark across Sebastopol and western Sonoma County on Saturday morning. The cause? A tree, which made contact with a power line, according to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E).
The outage began on Friday evening around 8:30 p.m. and affected a staggering 14,663 customers as of 9 a.m. on Saturday, as indicated by PG&E's outage map. The company's map provided a clear update: "A tree made contact with the power line, and our crew is on the way to make repairs."
By 9:17 a.m., the map showed a significant improvement, with only a handful of customers still experiencing the outage, thanks to the swift action of the repair crews.
PG&E initially estimated a full restoration of power by 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, but the outage was resolved much earlier, with the incident removed from the map by 11:10 a.m.
This story is still evolving, and we will provide further updates as they become available. Stay tuned for more details on this unexpected disruption and the swift response from PG&E.
