North London Derby: Arsenal Women's Fight for Victory | Barclays Women's Super League (2026)

A thrilling 0-0 draw in the North London derby left fans on the edge of their seats, but with a twist!

The Barclays Women's Super League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal Women at Brisbane Road was a tense affair. Arsenal dominated, but the scoreline didn't reflect their efforts.

Here's where it gets controversial...

In the first half, Eveliina Summanen took a shot from distance, but it lacked the power to trouble the keeper. Emily Fox then had a chance, but her shot was straight at the opposition's goalkeeper, Lize Kop. Kyra Cooney-Cross came close, but her shot just missed the target.

Arsenal's attacks were relentless. A free-kick from Cooney-Cross was headed out by Summanen, and Fox's cross was met by Stina Blackstenius, but Kop was equal to it. Beth Mead's pass inside the box found Alessia Russo, but her volley went wide.

As half-time approached, Blackstenius' effort was saved, and Mead's free-kick hit the wall.

And this is the part most people miss...

At the break, Arsenal made two substitutions, bringing on Taylor Hinds and Olivia Smith. Smith made an immediate impact, setting up Blackstenius, but her shot was saved.

In the 57th minute, Frida Maanum replaced Blackstenius, and Arsenal almost took the lead. Lotte Wubben-Moy's run forward found Maanum, who played a perfect pass to Smith, but her driven effort was denied.

As the clock ticked towards the 81st minute, Mariona Caldentey's corner found the top left corner, but it wasn't enough to break the deadlock.

With time running out, Chloe Kelly replaced Caitlin Foord, but the game ended in a draw.

So, what's next for Arsenal Women?

The UEFA Women's Champions League returns to Meadow Park on Wednesday at 8 pm, where Arsenal host Real Madrid. Then, it's back to WSL action at home against Liverpool on December 6 at 12 pm, with the game taking place at the iconic Emirates Stadium.

Will Arsenal's dominance pay off in the upcoming matches? Only time will tell!

What do you think? Was the draw a fair result, or did Arsenal deserve more? Let's discuss in the comments!
