The Commanders are cutting ties with cornerback Marshon Lattimore, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. This decision comes as no surprise, as CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz had previously reported the team's intention to release him. Lattimore's time in Washington was short-lived, marked by a midseason trade and a hamstring injury that limited him to just five appearances. Despite returning to start nine games in 2025, he suffered an ACL tear in November. The Saints acquired three draft picks in exchange for Lattimore, using them to select Jonas Sanker, Quincy Riley, and Devin Neal. During his time with the Commanders, Lattimore contributed 31 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery. However, his tenure with the Saints was also marred by injuries, missing significant time in 2022 and 2023. Despite these setbacks, Lattimore earned four Pro Bowls in his first five seasons with New Orleans. The Commanders will free up $18.5 million in cap space once the release is official.
