Lehigh University is making waves with its bold new dorm plans, but not everyone is on board. The university has unveiled a four-wing dorm complex, set to overlook the heart of its campus, as part of a long-term campus plan. The 23,000-square-foot East Hill Residential Halls complex will be built on a wooded slope on University Drive, between McClintic-Marshall House and Drinker House on the South Bethlehem campus. But here's where it gets controversial... The plans, which received a preliminary review at the Bethlehem planning commission meeting on Dec. 9, don't specify the number of rooms or beds in the dormitories. The college newspaper, The Brown and White, reports that plans call for 370 beds, while lehighvalleynews.com reports the complex will have 375 beds in a mix of 245 single and double units for freshmen. And this is the part most people miss... The university board of trustees adopted a 30-year master plan in August, which includes this new dorm complex. So, what do you think?
