Get ready for another dose of high-octane action! Jason Statham is back, and this time, he's not just taking names; he's protecting a young girl in the upcoming thriller, Shelter.
After the success of The Beekeeper in 2024 and A Working Man in 2025, Statham is set to kick off 2026 with a bang. Shelter promises to deliver the familiar, yet beloved, lone-wolf action that fans have come to expect. Statham, as Mason, a retired assassin, is reluctantly pulled back into the dangerous world he left behind to safeguard a young girl.
The Beekeeper proved Statham's box office draw, grossing an impressive $162 million globally on a budget of $40 million. A Working Man also performed well, bringing in $98 million with a similar production cost. Given this track record, Shelter is expected to continue this trend, potentially even surpassing those figures.
Mark your calendars: Shelter is scheduled to hit theaters on January 30, 2026.
Director Ric Roman Waugh has revealed that Statham's character is a mysterious figure who has been living in isolation for over 10 years in an abandoned lighthouse. He is living a solitary life until he is forced to save a young girl. This act thrusts him back into the world, revealing a haunting past and making him a target.
Waugh describes the film as a story about morality and redemption, with two lost souls finding each other and forming a family. He also praised Bodhi Rae Breathach, the young actress, comparing her role to those of Natalie Portman in The Professional and Dakota Fanning in Man on Fire.
But here's where it gets controversial... Some might argue that Statham's roles are becoming predictable.
Shelter also stars Bill Nighy, Naomi Ackie, and Daniel Mays. The film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh from a script by Ward Perry.
