A 37-year-old man was left with serious injuries after a shooting in Hamilton, prompting an urgent police investigation. The incident unfolded at Sapphire Pl in Chartwell, where emergency services were dispatched around 11:50 p.m. on Thursday.
The Hato Hone St John team responded swiftly, sending an ambulance, an operational manager, and a rapid response vehicle to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the man with gunshot wounds, who was assessed at the location.
The victim was then transported to Waikato Hospital, where he was stabilized and remained in a condition that required medical attention. Detective Senior Sergeant Reece Durston emphasized the importance of the public's role in this case.
He stated, 'We are appealing to the community for any information related to this incident or CCTV footage that might have captured the area around Sapphire Pl. The investigation team is particularly interested in two motor vehicles, one red and one white, believed to have been traveling in convoy in the vicinity at the time of the shooting.'
